Can you believe it’s been almost four weeks since I left the Netherlands for Seoul? I can’t… and I know I have hardly blogged since arriving, for that I apologize (more about why I’ve been slacking so much can be found later on in this post under ‘technical problems’). Here is an extremely long, picture filled, update about my life in Korea which involves visiting historic palaces and villages, people dashing towards me to take pictures, eating lots of Japanese food, shopping for make-up and technical problems.

Gyeongbokgung Palace Seoul

Gyeongbokgung Palace Seoul

DSC01935 Gyeongbokgung is the biggest palace in Seoul. Today my dorm mates and I went there to do some sightseeing. As we got out of the subway a bunch of kids wearing coats saying ‘Free Tour Guide’ were waiting near the exit. They approached us as soon as they saw us and proposed to give us a tour of the palace. We were so surprised, young kids spending their weekend on informing foreigners about the Korean dynasty (spending your weekend level Asian 9gag.com).  They were amazing tour guides and spoke very good English.

Japan beauty – What’s different?

Japan beauty – What’s different?

japangeishakopie A while ago I got an e-mail from Elise in which she asked if she could do Freelancing work for BeautyLab. Elise (20) is a journalism student and was giving the assignment to work for an (online) magazine or newspaper for the time span of three months. I’m always open to such requests and so we decided to meet up over a cup of tea in order to brainstorm about possible article subjects. We decided that Elie will post an article every two weeks the coming months. Together we picked out the subjects that will be discussed. They will be related to traveling, something Elise loves to do. [This is a re-post from my old blog. I put it up because I’m very proud of this article and I want to do an ‘Korea’ edition in the near future.]

Shopping in Seoul

Shopping in Seoul

Schermafbeelding 2013-02-23 om 17.55.49 As the day of my departure to Seoul is coming closer I thought I’d make a list of the shopping area’s, and brands, in Seoul that I definitely want to visit and share with you guys.  People say South Korea is the capitol of beauty (including plastic surgery) and, as a beauty enthusiast, I’m therefore very excited about living in Seoul. It gives me the opportunity to once again share Asia’s make-up, fashion and other beauty secrets on my blog. Of course I’m also gonna write about sightseeing and other travel-related  subjects, I mean this site is called the Beauty Suitcase for a reason right? I’m planning to do a lot of South Korean make-up (supposed to be one of the best in the world) give-aways, so if you want to stay updated on those follow my blog here on Wordpress, (and/or) on Facebook and Bloglovin.
