Lily Collins (24) known for her great acting skills in movies like ‘The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones’ and ‘Mirror Mirro’, and also applaued for her amazing style icon. With her pale skin, thick brows and laid back fashion choices she is becoming a style icon that young girls can look up to. Today I wanted to share some of her tips and tricks and my own love for her as a style and beauty icon with you all.
Wearing thick brows is Lily’s makeup signature. Because of her friendly face Lily I feel that she can easily pull this look of. It gives a bit of an edge to her sweet appearence. I personally feel that people that already have a strict or harsh looking face like Cara Delevigne look even more ‘unfriendly’ with really thick and/or dark brows. The rest of Phil Collins daughters’ makeup can be described as natural with a pop of color. Sometimes the young actress for example spots a berry lip. In my opinion she is so beautiful that she simply doesn’t need a lot of makeup. I have a friend like that, whenever she wears (a lot of) makeup it doesn’t do her justice, just because she is already so pretty. Life isn’t fair, is it? If you want to know more about just Lily’s makeup: Glamour wrote a great article about it.
One of the things I love about Lily Collins is her natural pale skin. It’s such a breath of fresh in an industry were most actresses and celebrities choose to go for unnatural looking spray tans. It might also be a personal thing though that I applaud Lily Collins for sticking with her white skin; I myself was always teased for being ‘pale’. My skin is very white naturally, however I still get a tan in summer, but I will obviously not be as dark as the people that already started out with a darker skin! Girls used to say my legs look like milk bottles. After living in both Japan and Korea I completely stopped caring about what color my skin is. There they love white skin and I used to get lots compliments about my ‘milky skin’ all the time. But girls with dark skin were made fun of. This experience made me realize that tanning or whitening is such a cultural thing, in my case it just made me appreciate my natural color.
The City of Bone actress doesn’t depend on stylist and borrowed designer clothes when it comes down to dressing up for events, she completely dresses herself. Lily mostly wears jewel tones, because as she states in an interview with whowhatwear.com “I’m really fair, so pale colors wash me out.” Personally I love both Lily Collins glammed up looks as well as her more laid down casual ones. How cool is for example the Bambi dress she is wearing in the picture above. Another thing I love about her fashion sense is, and you can call me a prude, that she doesn’t dress overly sexual. Some actresses go all out wearing just underwear with a lace ‘jumpsuit’, some may find it pretty, but I don’t like this kind of style at all.
