Travel Thursday – Sardinia

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Welcome on board, this Thursday you are flying with Beauty Suitcase Air to Sardinia, Italy’s biggest island. Sardinia is known for its blue beaches, authentic Italian (Sardinian) food and tiny historical towns. The high light of my trip to Sardinia this past summer was eating risotto in a local restaurant/canteen in a tiny mountain village made by an Italian cook that could have easily been my grandpa. Or ‘nonno’ as the Italians say. Click ‘Read more’ to start the engines!n

Japanese eyebrow trend

Western brows Japanese brows These days it seems like Western girls all try to make their eyebrows look like those of Cara Delevingne. The thicker, the bushier, the darker, the better. In Japan however brow trends are going a whole different direction, you could even say the opposite one, what is called ‘pastel’, ‘light’ or ‘soft’ brows are what’s hot there at the moment. Girls die, trim and even completely shave of their eyebrows in order to achieve the, in their eyes, perfect shape.

#Personal – back to school

#personal The Beauty Suitcase Quite a dramatic change from my previous diary post title. That’s right, no more partying in the USA, I’m back in school *unfortunately*. Lately I’ve found myself not enjoying journalism school as much as I used to. The class is fun, the teachers are great and the subject is Magazines, which is something I’m very fond of, but for some reason I’m just not having it. I just feel that, thanks to my freelance work, I know the ins and outs of journalism. Luckily my Korean friend Eunjin is here in The Netherlands (for a year!) and cheered me up with some Korean makeup goodies. Also this week my boyfriend Chris and I made a delicious dinner and I had my first hot cacao of this fall. Will you look at me at my picture diary of the past week?

Travel Thursday – Margraten American Cemetery

American cemetery Margraten Second World War Two days ago the world marked twelve years since 9/11. Reading all the news articles reminded me again of how much hate there is in this world. Seeing what the victims had to go through that day is heartbreaking. Me and Chris visited Margraten in the province Limburg last year. One of the most impressive American Cemeteries, were many soldiers that lost their life’s fighting for my countries freedom lay, is located here. With this post I want to honor all the victims of 9/11 and and other wars and terrors that our world has had to deal with and still is dealing with.

Jetlag? Help!

sleeping kitty jetlag Jetlag. Many people get bothered by this nasty phenomena after a long-haul flight, some do more than others. My dear boyfriend Chris for example is one of those people that happily hop three time zones within one week – real story- , but others, like myself at the current moment, feel ‘sick’ for a certain period of time when switching time zones. So what can you do about a jetlag? After making many intercontinental flights, I’ve created a list with tips that – for me – help the most to prevent/lessen a jetlag.

H&M LIP Pen

LIP Pen HM There are days that I don’t feel like wearing a lot of makeup. Just some concealer, mascara brows and a nude lip. The only problem was that I didn’t have any nude lip product. A while ago I stumbled upon the LIP Pen by H&M, which is technically a chubby stick dupe and decided to try it out for the blog.
