#Personal – Arriving in Seoul

SAMSUNG While you are reading this I’ll be asleep in my Korean bunk bed. Usually I post a ‘#Personal’ every friday but since I didn’t do so last friday, and have a lot to tell, I thought I’d might as well post a personal post on thursday instead of friday. Yesterday I arrived in Seoul, South Korea, to study at Hanyang University. I’ll be staying here for almost four months, 111 days to be exact. To be honest I’m still a bit scared about it all, because now that I’m at the start of it all four months seems like a very long time. My boyfriend Chris will be coming over for sure and my parents might do so as well, but just knowing that I won’t see my house, my country, home town, other family, friends and kitty for such a long time scares me. According to Chris it will be over in no time and I should enjoy it the maximum. Let me give you a little update of what I did so far (and to be honest his past two days did fly by)

Men’s Monday – US Chocolate chip cookies with a Dutch …

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA By Chris – In America chocolate chip cookies are a common form of cookie in many grocery stores and I was quite surprise upon arrival in the Netherlands the lack of chocolate chip cookies. They have many forms of deserts and sweets in the netherlands, many that i have never seen before. I would say the netherlands prepares very delicious deserts even though their cuisine does not really have the best reputation. However, sometimes nothing compares to the delicious and yet simple chocolate chip cookie. Often i would make chocolate chip cookies for my international friends at the dormitory and they were amazed about how good they are. Due to the lack of the chocolate chip cookies in the Netherlands and since I made chocolate chip cookies for my girlfriend for one of her last days in the Netherlands before korea, I thought I would share about the art of the chocolate chip cookie. Shopping in Seoul

Schermafbeelding 2013-02-23 om 17.55.49 As the day of my departure to Seoul is coming closer I thought I’d make a list of the shopping area’s, and brands, in Seoul that I definitely want to visit and share with you guys.  People say South Korea is the capitol of beauty (including plastic surgery) and, as a beauty enthusiast, I’m therefore very excited about living in Seoul. It gives me the opportunity to once again share Asia’s make-up, fashion and other beauty secrets on my blog. Of course I’m also gonna write about sightseeing and other travel-related  subjects, I mean this site is called the Beauty Suitcase for a reason right? I’m planning to do a lot of South Korean make-up (supposed to be one of the best in the world) give-aways, so if you want to stay updated on those follow my blog here on Wordpress, (and/or) on Facebook and Bloglovin.

Sephora waterproof contour eye pencil review

sephorareview I think most of you girls had this happen to you: you’ve applied your crayon eyeliner and go out, for example for a day of shopping with your friends. While you browse through the clothes you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and see a panda staring back at you. The make-up you spend so much time on  has moved down from your waterline  to your eye-bag area and formed two nice black circles. Even worse when it goes into the fine lines around your eyes. I have had this happen to me all the time, but recently I discovered a product that I’m 100% amazed by: Sephora’s waterproof contour eye pencil 12 hour wear (around 9,- euro). Read how I put the waterproofness of  this crayon to the test by driving on my scooter with heavy rainfall pouring on my face. This is post is not sponsored in any way.

China Light Festival

Schermafbeelding 2013-02-18 om 16.24.38 By Chris Reichard – Fire breathing dragons, oriental buildings, panda bears, and Chinese flowers were a part of the romantic valentines evening with my girlfriend this year. In an Rotterdam park near the Euromast tower, the tallest observation tower in the Netherlands, a large light festival was prepared displaying the many magic’s of the Chinese culture. It brought the traditional lantern festival into more modern complex designs displaying the traditional Chinese dragon, panda bears, Chinese temples, and a Chinese impression of the Dutch culture in a lighted display of Keukenhof. Keukenhof is a flower park in the Netherlands open in the spring time displaying gardens full of traditional Dutch flowers like the tulip.
