Photo Of The Week – Missing Japan

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
I have been missing Japan a lot lately. My boyfriend Chris lived in Japan for his thesis for about 2,5 months. I joined him in Kyoto for one month. That month was one of the best months of my life. I had always been very interested in Japan, but after living there I fell in love with the country. Kyoto is a magical place. It is exactly what I imaged (ancient) Japan to be like.

This photo was taken at the Kiyomizu Temple, the area around this temple was my favorite place in all of Kyoto. The Kiyomizu temple stands on top of a high hill. Leading up to the temple is the historic district of Kyoto. Several times a week when Chris would go to the university I would bike to the historic district and hike up the hill while browsing through the little shops along the way. I could spend hours doing so.

It has been awhile since we went to Japan (this summer it will be four years ago). During the time I was in Japan I blogged on my old blog that is now offline. I have rewritten and reposted some of the articles, but there is still a lot missing. I am considering putting some more up, because I would like to keep the memories of one of the best trips of my life alive.

I am also thinking about making ‘Photo Of The Week’ a returning element on this blog. I am not sure if I will do it every week and if so in what format. Let me know if you like shorter blog entries like this every so now and then!

With Love,

Elise Mooijman

I know right! I am secretly hoping to go back to Japan (and Korea) after I (hopefully) graduate in 2016 :D! I miss both countries so much.
