[TRAVEL] Korea – Seoul, Deoksugung Palace

Anjong haseo (안녕하세요)! Or in English: Hello! During my journalism bachelor I studied one semester in Korea. My American boyfriend Chris came to vist me and together we did a lot of sightseeing. When looking through my Korea photos I realized that I never posted anything about Deoksugung Palace, a beautiful palace complex right in the heart of Seoul.

As you can see the palace is right in the city. Walking through the palace grounds is really peaceful and when you don’t look at the big skyscrapers surrounding it you almost forget that you’re in the middle of one of the largest and busiest cities in the world.

There are five palaces in Seoul with Deoksugung being the smallest. What is really cool about the Deoksugung Palace Complex is that it doesn’t only feature Korean style buildings; two of the buildings there are modelled after Western buildings (I failed to take a picture of them…). None of the Korean palaces are inhabited by the royal family anymore. South-Korea unfortunately stopped being a monarchy after the tragic annexation by Japan.

With Love,

What a gorgeous palace! South Korea is definitely on my list of places to visit.

You probably have tons of GB on your computer for all those photographs and videos of your trips :D! It looks really quiet and always nice for royals to have more than one place, then they can shuffle around some (in the past tense).

    • I do haha! I love writing about it on my blog so that I and others can look back on it (or for when people want to travel to those destinations!). It was a super nice place for a relaxing afternoon.

  3. Amaziiing 🙂
