[REVIEW] LUSH Porridge Soap

What better way to start your day than with a nice bowl of oatmeal? This creamy Porridge Soap Bar by Lush is like breakfast for your skin. The smell that this soap gives off it is one of my favorite Lush scents: creamy, a hint of sweetness and a pinch of orange. In this review I’m sharing my thoughts on the Lush Porridge Soap Bar.

Porridge Soap Ingredients
One of the ingredients of the Porridge Soap Bar is coconut oil. The soap doesn’t smell like coconut, but you can tell that it’s in there by how ‘soft’ the bar feels. Orange juice (rich in vitamin C) is an ingredient that will help the skin produce collagen and is believed to reduce the effect of the sun on our skin (pigmentation) spots.

The Porridge Soap Bar has quite a strong scent, but unlike some other Lush scents it’s not a scent that you either love or hate; every single person under which nose I held this little bar seemed to love it.

Like I said above the Porridge Soap Bar smells very creamy. It’s a warm scent with the tiniest hint of orange. According to Lush the bar smells like ‘oatmeal and brown sugar’ and I think I would quite agree with that claim. The scent is sweet, but far from overly sweet.

Little Gurt also decided to have a sniff of the Porridge Soap. He said to tell Lush that he much preferred a salmon or chicken scented soap bar; the orange made his little nose tingle with an unpleasant sensation.

Pinhead oat flakes give the Porridge Soap Bar its scrubbing abilities. Even though Lush lists this soap bar as a mild scrub, I found it to be quite strong when directly applied to the skin. I recommend scrub your skin gently with the soap bar.

The Porridge Soap Bar does what it’s supposed to do: it makes your skin feel squeaky clean, but it doesn’t make you running for body lotions by leaving behind a little layer. After using the soap bar my skin felt really soft and smelled quite delicious, but not over the top. Just the way I like it. It also seems to by quite long lasting as it doesn’t melt away before your eyes when held under the shower.

Texture – Soft and creamy, but solid.
Application – Rub the bar gently over your skin.
Smells – One of my all time favorite Lush scents. This Porridge Soap Bar smells creamy with a tiny hint of orange. What I like most about this scent is that it is very subtile.
Price vs Product – With €4,75 for 100 gram this is one of Lush’s best priced soaps. I think it’s definitely worth the money.
Overall impression – The Porridge Soap Bar has become on of my favorite Lush products, mainly because of it’s heavenly scent. I’m not even sure if my description does justice to it. The coming days this little soap bar will accompany me under the shower. Using a soap bar is also a lot more environmental friendly than bottled shower gel.

Porridge Soap, €4.74 per 100 gram, LUSH.

With Love,

Perfect photographs, really does the soap justice. The smell sounds great exactly like Quaker’s brown sugar! Surprising that it contains real orange juice instead of an extract.
