Finding healthy food when on a holiday in the USA is not always easy, especially when it comes down to deserts. Today I wanted to introduce you all to one of my favorite American originated treats and must-eat when in the States: frozen yogurt. As well as give a peek into my favorite ‘froyo’ store: Yo Mama.
Frozen yogurt is a very delicious desert and, depending on what kind of topping you add, low in calories. You can find frozen yogurt places all over the States and even in other countries this dairy treat is becoming more and more popular. However I don’t think any country can beat the USA, when it comes down to frozen yogurt. Free sampling, endless toppings and great looking stores; the Americans do it best. So let me introduce you all to my favorite frozen yogurt place: Yo Mama, no not that MTV show, but an amazing froyo specialist in Wisconsin
Yo Mama has all sorts of candy you can put on your frozen treat, which of course make it a lot less healthy. Luckily they also have lot’s of fruits and nuts to choose from.
The cup I had here was a small and filled to the brim with yogurt, nuts, chocolate and fruits, costed only ±4,5 dollars. Which is around 3.44 euro. Super cheap for the amount you get if you ask me. Here in The Netherlands in every store, being it ice cream or something else, you usually pay per topping. Paying per weight is a better concept in my opinion.
As for right now you can only find Yo Mama stores in Wisconsin (check their site for the exact locations). Of course there are other frozen yogurt franchises like Pink Berry, Cold Stone, Orange Leaf, Lovin’ Spoons and Farr’s Fresh in other parts of the States, but for now Yo Mama is my number one. I definitely recommend anyone that’s going to Wisconsin, even if just passing through, to stop by Yo Mama for some yummy froyo!
