There are days that I don’t feel like wearing a lot of makeup. Just some concealer, mascara brows and a nude lip. The only problem was that I didn’t have any nude lip product. A while ago I stumbled upon the LIP Pen by H&M, which is technically a chubby stick dupe and decided to try it out for the blog.
Since I’m very fair colored my lips are very lightly pigmented. Depending on how warm it is they change color, the colder it gets the lighter they are. In the states right now it’s pretty warm, so my lips are a bit ‘darker’ than usual.
Here is a close up. As you can see I also don’t have very defined lip lines. Wearing a lip product therefore helps my lips stand out more. I think it’s also important to state that I have fairly dry lips, lip products therefore always look a bit more ‘grainy’ on my scaly lips. I’m still looking for a lip balm that can top the Avocado Lip Balm by Skin Food.
The stick is retractable, which I think is much better then some of the pencil ones out there that require sharpening. Looking at the tip of the LIP Pen it appears to be matte. And when swatched in the shadow, that’s the case.
A beautiful matte nude lip color. However when in the sun, the LIP Pen unveils its shimmers. I was a little bit disappointed by this because I personally was looking for a matte lip stick/ lip pen. I however can’t complain much, because the results are still gorgeous.
As you can see from the picture of my lips my lip line is much more defined. The color is beautiful and my lips look like they are nice and moist. I will still be looking for a matte lip stick, but a shimmery nude lip pen can be crossed of my list.
The H&M LIP Pen comes in the colors beige (the one I’m wearing), red and pink. It retails for € 3,95/$ 4,95 and is therefore a cheap alternative to the Clinique Chubby stick which costs 17,95 $.
