I’m sorry that I haven’t posted much about my life here in the USA! For those of you that missed it: I’m currently doing an internship at BRAVA Magazine in the United States in the town of Madison, WI. More than two months have already passed, and my stay here is drawing to and end. Please take a look at my temporary ‘American life’!
The lovely ladies above are my colleagues! My editor/mentor (not in the photo) is an awesome belly dancer and gave the entire team a belly dance workshop!
It’ s been quite cold here… Luckily for me it seems to be getting warmer!
I’m living with my boyfriend Chris’ parents. They are divorced so I stay with his dad during the week and with his mom on the weekends. This cute ball of fluff is Snowbell. I’ve officially branded him my Favorite American Furball!
Chris’ mom took me to this very interesting theme restaurant in Madison. There were toys everywhere! It is called Ella’s Deli And in case you were wondering: yes that is Sponge Bob pulling of a Super Man pose while hanging from the ceiling!
Strange restaurants call for strange drinks! This cotton candy strawberry drink was surprisingly good and unlike many other drinks here in the States not too sweet!
Chris’ mom took me out to a ice hockey game and after the game Gavin DeGraw performed!
Delicious banana bagel breakfast with hot honey lemon water!
My colleague Β took me out to see the city of Madison. This is the State Capital. Really recommend you pay a visit if you ever happen to be in Madison!
Did some modeling for BRAVA Magazine. Well part of my body did haha!
Went out for sushi with a colleague! People in the States eat a lot of meat so having fish was a nice change!
There is so much nature In Oconomowoc. I especially love the house of Chris’ mom, because they have a small forest in their backyard! American always look at me funny when I get all excited about seeing a squirrel, to them they’re rodents!
I went to a Karmin concert with my boyfriend Chris’ little sister Ashley which was pretty awesome! They’re upcoming artists, but already had to pretty big hits. You might know ‘Acapella‘ or ‘Broken Hearted‘
My favorite Karmin song is ‘I Want it All’.
During Easter in the US all these candy brands come out with special flavors. Anna Saccone from the ‘SACCONEJOLYs‘ on Youtube got me hooked on these White Chocolate Carrot Cake M&M’s! I got them half prized! I bought two bags and when I wanted to get more a few days later they were all sold out!
Painted my nails American Robin Egg Blue! American robins look totally different from our European robins!
A toilet for bigger butts! Supports 645 kilo! Americans….
In case you haven’t seen it yet I recorded a first impression video on the EM Michelle Phan Concealer Palette for my Youtube channel! Click on the picture to check it out!
Here I’m wearing the concealer! It’s pretty amazing!
Got that extreme couponing down! Got a five dollar H&M giftcard with a previous purchase and bought a five dollar T-Shirt with it haha!
Had my first ever Cinnabon! They’re sooo good!
Saw this Pusheen book and really wanted to buy it…
My real life Pusheen!
Chris’ mom and family took me out to the Mall of AmericaΒ in Minnesota, which is the largest mall in the entire USA! It even has a Nickelodeon themed amusement park inside!
Posing up a storm with Spongebob!
Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my life here in the States! From now on I will doing these kind of posts weekly on sunday again!
With Love,
Elise Mooijman
