Make yourself comfortable and maybe grab a cup of tea with a biscuit. No better way to enjoy a post about London, right? In Part I of ‘Touristing Around London’ you could read how I took my ‘in-laws’ from the United States to see the change of the guards among other typical touristy things. Our second day in London we visited Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross Station and enjoyed a night walk around town.
PlATFORM 9 3/4 AT KING’S CROSS STATION
Before we went to London I was tremendously looking forward to visiting Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross and the Harry Potter gift shop. To be honest it was a little disappointing. I mean, it’s still fun, but it’s quite commercialized. There is a que, a professional photographer and someone that puts a scarf on you. The good thing is, however, that you are still allowed to take your own photos. The gift shop is very small and everything there is super expensive, so I ended up not buying anything.
Seeing London all lit up at night is a tremendous experience. During the day the London Eye is not much more special than any other big ferris wheel, but as soon as the sun sets and the lights go on it becomes pretty magical looking. I definitely recommend strolling around town after dark, as the crowds have also gone away.
Hope you enjoyed the past blog posts! Tomorrow you can read about five nice places to eat in London, which will be the last post of this UK series. Also, for those of you that are not into travel diaries and prefer fashion posts: stick around a little bit longer. We just came back from Paris were we shot some amazing outfit photos.
