Sometimes traveling comes unexpected, for example when an invite to the wedding of my boyfriends good friends in Czech Republic fell on the doormat. Their lovely church wedding was held near the border of Poland, but as our flight was on Prague we decided to take a little holiday and visit this beautiful medieval town. Are you coming along?
OLD TOWN SQUARE
One of the main attractions of Prague is the Old Town Square, a true historical gem. I had previously been in Prague with my high school, but because of the briefness of this trip we had not visited the Old Town Square. My boyfriend (and photographer) Chris had already been to this historical square before and showed me all the gems that Prague’s Old Town Square has to offer.
This former palace turned art museum is my personal favorite, I love how vibrant the colors are. In the picture is Chris, who got in front of the camera instead of behind for change.
Prague Astronomical Clock
One of my readers recommended the Astronomical Clock as a must-see, and she was right. It’s an absolute piece of art. What really ads to the atmosphere are the musicians that can be found playing In front of the Clock Tower.
Gothic architecture is so hauntingly beautiful. It does always remind me a little of the hideouts of Disney villains though! But that is probably just my imagination running wild.
After touring the Old Town Square Chris and I wanted to sit down for a coffee. Like any other touristic place the prices for a drink were outrages at the square itself. Right past the Astronomical clock we found a little alleyway were a handful of artists had set up shop. Further down the alley there was a nice coffee shop where we sat down for a cafe latte. I tried finding the alley on Google Maps, but I couldn’t seem to locate it.
Charles Bridge, the only historical sight I could remember from my high school trip to Prague. I remember being really impressed by the size of the bridge, but I also recall rushing over it because of poor rain. This time around I had – although it was drizzling- more time to look at all of the beautiful art displayed on the bridge and even bought my mom a pair of earrings made by a local metal artist.
Prague Castle Complex
St. Vitus Cathedral
Late in the evening we visited the Prague’s Castle Complex. The St. Vitus Cathedral is one of the most beautiful Gothic churches I’ve ever seen. It’s almost a bit haunting isn’t it? The view of Prague from the Castle Complex is gorgeous at night.
P.S. I had promised a vlog, but as it unfortunately turns out we filmed too little footage to create a proper vlog. Sorry about that!
